Legal Secretary required for Government employer in the GTA area.  Responsibilities include performing word processing functions to prepare correspondence, reports, memoranda, briefing notes and legal documents, taking and transcribing dictation of a highly confidential and/or technical nature, including voice mail transcriptions, communicating with personnel in trial offices in the Criminal Law Division and with staff in the courts, conduct searches on the electronic case management data bases and legal information systems to retrieve information pertinent to appeal and prosecution files, photocopying, collating and binding of legal documents/document books, arranging for timely filling of legal documents in the courts and when necessary or required, personally attending in the courts to file legal documents, maintaining and coordination appeal, prosecution and purge court files; maintaining accurate record-keeping systems, scheduling and coordinating court dates, meetings, appointments, and conferences, arrangements for special services such as court interpreters, screening telephone calls, taking messages and receiving visitors. Successful candidate must have knowledge of criminal appellate and trial litigation office methods and procedures and related policies, ministry directives and guidelines, and court administration practices and procedures, knowledge of relevant Criminal Appeal Rules and Rules of Criminal Practice, including terminology, documentation, and practices and procedures, knowledge of law library procedures and processes, ability to identify incorrect or incomplete information and/or documentation or problematic issues in files and to determine the appropriate steps to be taken, strict adherence to confidentiality rules and policies and Freedom of Information and Protection Privacy Act requirements. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Windows, Excel, and Outlook, strong oral and written communication skills, ability to type 60 wpm Dictaphone skills, and superior attention to detail required.
