The scope of this position is to perform tasks in the maintenance, repair and improvement of facilities that address building and client issues, responding to service requests and emergencies. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: responding to service calls from tenants in a timely manner, reading and interpreting blueprints, determining drawings and sketches specifications and calculating requirements, completing work and maintenance in accordance with code requirements. General repairs – may include: exterior repair (brick and asphalt repair, roof), interior repair (drywall, ceiling tile, sprinkler systems, flooring, plumbing, caulking), painting, welding as well as cleaning up and demolition when required. You may be required to assist with snow removal, ground maintenance service or building operations functions. You must portray a favourable image of the organization as the front-line contact with clients/tenants and sub-contractors; including wearing proper attire and identification. You will also ensure and enforce compliance to all company, client and legislated Safety policies and procedures. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, good judgment, concern for safety, customer service orientation, attention to details and reliability. Minimum qualifications: high school diploma generally required, prior maintenance experience, knowledge of construction materials, able to use basic power tools and complete basic building maintenance, as well as hold a valid “G” Driver’s license. Working conditions: hours are Monday to Friday 7:30-4:30 with significant physical effort and significant exposure to environmental conditions. Moderate shift work or non-standard hours of work required. Must be willing to commute from one location to the other, all across the GTA.
